Where can I get the official study manual PDF?
Enrolled candidates can access the relevant eStudy Guide through Upcoming Activity in the HKSI Online Portal, or Menu → Downloads in HKSI Institute Mobile, until their examination date. If you have not enrolled, use the purchase links in the official version table. Check the official screen for prices and terms.
Can I still use 3.4.2? Choose by examination date
The HKSI version table specifies v3.5 for Paper 1 examinations from 30 June 2026; v3.4.2 applied through 29 June. A circulating “3.4.2 PDF” should therefore not be treated as the current manual. Older books can provide background, but differences need checking against the applicable official guide.
How should books, notes and question banks work together?
Use the official guide for scope and source wording, notes to organise relationships, and original questions to practise applying rules. Before buying a book, check its edition, syllabus alignment, update history, language and explanation samples, including why distractors are wrong. A “2026” cover or large question count is insufficient. We have not comprehensively tested the books on sale and do not present an unverified best-book ranking.
What is inside the original revision PDF?
Page 1 covers versions and use; page 2 maps nine chapters; page 3 distinguishes six pairs of concepts; page 4 provides two original worked examples; page 5 sets out a four-step answering method and an adjustable seven-day plan; page 6 contains a printable error log and source links. The PDF links back to the website for version checks.
Check understanding after each section
Read the relevant section of the study notes, then try the 20 free original questions. Write your reasoning before checking. Record the actor, condition or exception you missed. This is an introductory short set, not a full 60-question mock or a measure of the entire syllabus.
